Recollection of rip tides is a piece that culminates my artistic practice of ceramic materialism, fragmented bodily memory, and connection with the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. As a Trans and Queer artist, this piece regards the figurative notions of the academically rendered, colonially enforced, and socially/politically elected ideals of Body, and offers the viewer a story beyond these common constraints. A telling where the separation between fluid and fragile, body and statue, memory and tactility are left boundless. A rendering of love past corporeal limitations; a sensation of finding oneself far from the shore.
