Instructor: Irene Bernal



Irene Bernal reside en Seattle, WA. Nacida en California sus padres inmigraron de México. Recibió su licenciatura de Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo y su maestría de la Universidad de Minnesota. Al jubilarse de una carrera en el sector privado, su enfoque es en crear espacios que inspiren la creatividad. Su inspiración nace de las cerámicas tradicionales de México y la China.



Taller de Altares



Este taller se impartirá completamente en español.



Te invitamos a que participes en la creación de un altar cerámico personalizado. En este taller, utilizarás técnicas básicas de construcción a mano, diseñaras y construirás un pequeño altar que refleje tus propias historias, memorias y tradiciones.



Nuestro equipo te guiará mediante demostraciones e instrucciones paso a paso, haciendo pausas para responder preguntas y apoyar el proceso individual. Se alentará a cada participante a explorar su propio lenguaje visual mientras aprende distintas formas de construir, ensamblar y decorar su pieza. Las técnicas de superficie pueden incluir el uso de bajo esmalte y barbotina para agregar color y detalle.



Este taller está abierto a todos los niveles y se enfoca en la creatividad, la flexibilidad y la expresión personal. Tener experiencia previa no es un requerimiento. Te invitamos a experimentar con diferentes técnicas y encontrar los métodos que mejor apoyen cada idea, siempre en cuando se adhería a las normas del estudio.



English Translation:



Join us for a one-session handbuilding workshop focused on creating a personalized ceramic altar. Using foundational handbuilding techniques, participants will design and build a small altar that reflects their own stories, memories, and traditions.



The instructor will guide the group through demonstrations and step-by-step instruction, pausing throughout to answer questions and support individual progress. Participants will be encouraged to explore their own visual language while learning a variety of approaches to shaping, assembling, and decorating their work. Surface techniques may include the use of underglaze and slip to add color and detail.



This workshop is open to all experience levels and centers creativity, flexibility, and personal expression. Participants are invited to experiment with different techniques and find the methods that best support their ideas, while working within shared studio guidelines.
